For about 6 years now I've been making these Tillie version Knock Down Dolls in fun, circus-themed colors. The seafoam version was to match the color of the Palace Amusements building in Asbury Park, where Tillie's smiling countenance watched over children of all ages for decades.
An orange version was perfect for clowning around. Bright and cheery and colorfully circus-y.
And a royal blue version gave nod to a spiffy, more dressed up Tillie. And in all those years, I've sold over 100 of them.... with no complaints from the crowd.
Then, one day... I was like, "Hey! How about some new colors?" which was quickly followed by, "Duh!" and a head-slap. So, I decided to try out a pink version, to perhaps appeal to the ladies out there... a dusty lavender version, because I was feeling dandy... and a teal version, well, just for something different.
The exciting part was that I had just been contacted by someone who previously purchased one of my Knock Down Dolls and wanted to buy 5 more — in all different colors — to make a boardwalk themed display. And with the 3 new colors, I just so happened to be able to give her exactly what she wanted. A more colorful solution!
And since I was already fiddling with faux fur, sitting at the sewing machine, had hammer and tacks handy, and ribbons galore to rummage through... I made 2 whole sets. One for my patron and the other for you! To see all my Tillies in their fabulously amusing glory, you can visit my Etsy shop and click on Knock Down Dolls in the sidebar.

Coming To Life...
It took about a month, but from hand drawn images scanned and manipulated on the computer...
...emerged 30 custom Knock Down Dolls for a boardwalk themed wedding. The bride and groom are actually creating a full game setup for their reception. Hooray for the happy couple!

Two For The Show...
Fall brings lots of outdoor celebrations, including... Harvest Festivals! I'll be vending at one such event this weekend... The Ocean Grove Fall Harvest Festival & Craft Show. Come visit an historic shore town and shop for original art, handmade crafts, and enjoy fun activities for the kiddies....
I'll be there selling my upcycled vintage jewelry, boardwalk and carnival-themed pieces, art and more! Admission is free and while you're here, stop by the Youth Temple for a Postcard & Collectibles Show ($3 for that one). For more info or directions, visit the Ocean Grove Chamber website.
P.S. I heard Mother Nature is totally going to cooperate, so make a day of it!

Always Room For Improvement...
My creativity the past couple weeks has been directed toward some other tasks... namely my website and Etsy shop. I did a grand sweep of changes, including updates to my home page... making it more visually pleasing and easier to navigate. I updated the bio a little bit to better reflect my current direction.
I updated lots of pages and even added new ones... like this Custom Jewelry page. This is so people know that I can create a special piece of jewelry using their own personal stuff!
I've also been adding some new items to my Etsy shop like a few more custom made Knock Down Dolls and my original framed Collages.
And... taking tons and tons of photos to bring a more cohesive look to the different categories of my shop. Not just for the new items I add, but for much of the existing items as well. Whew! But as always (for me at least), everything is a work in progress. But I'm happy with the improvements so far.
