Do Me A Favor?

Recently, I got to utilize my crafty and graphic design skills to create favor tags for my little brother's upcoming wedding! He and his fiancé are getting married at a local venue on the water, so I wanted to incorporate something seashore-ish. The wave made the perfect statement and went with their navy blue theme. The bride and groom were very happy with how they came out... and I am so very happy that my brother is marrying such a lovely young lady. With this wedding I am gaining a wonderful new sister and a great friend. We're all very lucky!

Cheap Thrills...

One foam stamp, one pair of old blue jeans (almost on their way out), and some jet black acrylic paint were all it took to jazz up these favorites of mine. I was getting bored with them and felt like playing around. All I did was simply spread out some black paint onto a non-stick surface (I used Ranger's Craft Sheet here), and pat the foam stamp into the paint until it's completely covered. Then I stamped on the jeans, nice and firm... and that's it! Don't worry if the stamping doesn't come out perfectly, just dip a paintbrush into the paint and fix any parts you like. Ta-daa!

I had actually stamped on a pair of lighter jeans with white acrylic paint a few years ago and loved them... but alas, they don't fit any more. So I figured I'd try it again. I bet if I bought these at Anthropologie they'd be $249!! Cheap thrills work for me.

Thoughful Thursdays: Stamp Cleaning With A Purpose!

So how cool would these stampings look, all torn up and added to a journal page or collage? This is just one more way that I recycle everything! I was actually stamping onto my carnival assemblage boxes last week, but wanted an impression that resembled a timeworn look. So I glanced around for a spare piece of paper so I could stamp on it first, then stamp the box. I found a bunch of (losing) chance tickets on the fridge... and the rest is history (or a new journal element)!

The other thing I do, is when I clean off my stamps at the end, I'll wipe them with cleaner then stamp them out onto paper as well... creating a nice ghosted element. I'll do this until the ink from the stamp disappears. I have pages and pages of "cleaning off my stamps" images at the ready for journal pages and collages. They're fun to make... and they're free!

Happy stamping (and cleaning)!
