I'm late... I'm late... for a very important blog post! Hello from down the rabbit's hole... where I concocted this dreamy necklace using lots of fun and frivolity from Vintaj! Beginning with this argyle-inspired embossed metal piece I created a few weeks ago...
It was just begging to be cut apart into strips and made into a choker of some sort. I sanded the edges first. Then I rounded each piece using a rubber mallot and... of all things... a spaghetti sauce jar! So they'd fit together like this...
The holes to attach the pieces together were made with the Crop-a-dile... and the same tool set the eyelets (LOVE!)...
The back was finished with a classic Vintaj clasp and tiny butterfly. Absolem, is that you?
Hope you enjoyed my latest Adventure into jewelry-making... who knows what kind of mixed media merriment will come next!
BEAUTIMUS!!!!! Excellant idea, I have a question, how did you get the control with your alcohol ink, when I use it it just runs everywhere?
ReplyDeleteShiraz...
ReplyDeleteGood question! Make sure you have a good covering of matte white paint, or gesso on the metal first. Then, when dropping the alcohol inks on, start with one drop and let it dry before you go on to the next color. That way they won't run into each other. Sometimes I'll be impatient and all the colors will just run into each other! Many of my pieces have several layers of ink because of that.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for answering my question!! I understand what you are saying,I will try that, I love the alcohol inks, I just need the patience to do a bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteVery inspired work of art! I found you from the Vintaj blog and am a new follower. I am all about using materials that are upcycled and appropriated from other sources proving that inspiration can indeed come from anywhere! Enjoy the day! Erin
